The Australian Business Awards is delighted to recognise Medibank as recipients of The Australian Business Award for Community Contribution in its industry classification for 2013.

Established in 1976, Medibank entered the private insurance industry and rapidly became the
second largest insurance fund in the country within a year. Today it is Australia’s largest health insurance and health services provider and has transformed from a solely private health insurance company to an integrated healthcare provider.

The Medibank Community Fund was launched in 2011. Through partnerships with community organisations and activities, the Fund aims to link people to programs, and financially support initiatives that enable people to live for longer and in good health.

Partnerships have been created with Heart Foundation Walking, Healthy Parks Healthy People, The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation and R U OK? Day. It also offers study and scholarship grants, and sponsors students through The Smith Family. In addition the Fund provides grants to healthy community projects and supports overseas relief appeals and Indigenous health projects.

The Australian Business Awards congratulate Medibank for its success in the category of Community Contribution in 2013.
