South Australia Police

The Australian Business Awards are delighted to recognise South Australia Police as recipients of The Australian Business Award for Community Contribution in its industry classification for 2012.

In February 2011 South Australia Police launched a dedicated news website as well as supporting social media platforms. This was breaking new ground as South Australia Police was the first emergency service agency in the State to leap into the world of online reporting and engaging the community meaningfully through social media. Just one year on the organisation built a loyal online community of around 50,000 fans that follow them through their website and on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The organisation also launched a web application for smart phones and handheld devices.  It recently jointly launched a website, with SAFECOM, offering a one-stop shop for anyone looking for the latest emergency social media messages.

The Australian Business Awards congratulate South Australia Police for their success in the category of Community Contribution in 2012.
