Q.: What are the product award categories?
A.: There are 5 product award categories segmented into 15 product classifications. The product award categories are as follows: Product Excellence, Product Innovation, Product Value, Product Design and Best New Product.
Q.: What types products are eligible to enter?
A.: Entry is open to products available in Australia including Business Products, E-Business Products, Software Products, Industrial Products, Building Products, Technology Products, Scientififi c Products, Agricultural Products, Educational Products, Recreational Products, ICT Products, Eco Products, Automotive & Transport, Financial Products and Consumer Products. Entries can be tangible or intangible from any of the following main types: Manufactured Goods, Devices, Equipment, Services, Programs, Projects, Activities, Information, Knowledge, Software, Platforms & Systems. Eligibility includes business to business (B2B), business to government (B2G), government to business (G2B), government to citizen (G2C) to business to consumer (B2C) products and services delivered through the private, public and non-profit sectors.
Q.: What are the product compliance criteria?
A.: Products must be commercially available in Australia and comply with all applicable Australian standards and regulatory requirements. Therapeutic goods must have TGA approval (Therapeutic Goods Administration) to enter. If products are sold within a series, the full series may be required for assessment. Please refer to the applicable entry guidelines for more detailed information.
Q.: What products are ineligible to enter?
A.: Prototypes or products still undergoing trials are ineligible to enter. A part or component of a product is not eligible to enter on its own unless it is sold separately. Please refer to the applicable entry guidelines for more detailed information.
Q.: What is a product series?
A.: For the purposes of The Australian Business Awards program the term 'product series' is defined as variations in design, features, specifications, formats, platforms and upgraded models of the same product. This does not include different size and colour combinations if the product has no other variations.
Q.: Can entrants submit multiple product entries?
A.: There is currently no limit to the number of separate or unique products that may be entered per year from the same organisation. Although the same supporting materials may be used entrants are required to submit a separate submission for each entry.
Q.: What is the assessment methodology?
A.: The Australian Business Awards utilises a dynamic framework to ensure that the assessment process is pertinent, objective, free of bias or influence. Entries are evaluated in accordance with the product award framework whereby products and scored against a range of award criteria.
Q.: What is the award criteria?
A.: Products are scored against a range of criteria across seven main areas: Leadership, Features, Innovation, Performance, Benefits, Value and Sustainability. These criteria vary in weighting according to the product category.
Q.: How is the assessment conducted?
A.: Entries are checked for completeness, thoroughness and general conformance to the award criteria and are evaluated via a rigorous assessment process. The requirements as outlined in The Australian Business Awards entry guidelines vary by award category and may include: a comprehensive written submission, product samples, reports attained through independent research, productivity reports, analysis reports and technical literature.
Q.: How are the winners selected?
A.: The product award winners are selected from the products that have achieved the highest scores as outlined in the specific award criteria and aggregated across all classifications. The Awards aim to identify the leading products via a set of established product award categories.
Q.: Are there any runners up?
A.: The products which score lower than the winning entries are not referenced, ranked or rated by the Australian Business Awards. To avoid ambiguity within the public forum, no award can be shared by multiple products within the same product classification, nor are there any designated runners-up, finalists or nominees. Any organisation claiming any of these accolades or achievements is making these claims erroneously and without the permission of the Australian Business Awards.
